King Kong Dynasty was basically another video game idea. I found myself a big fan of Peter Jackson's King Kong and the wonderful character that Jackson enhanced, you can tell he is fan in love with the subject. I'm also a big supporter of Sandbox games. I feel they allow players a larger extent of personal story telling and adventure. The thought on Dynasty was a open map with various playable characters that offered different perspectives of raw animal power.
Each creature in the drawing has it's own story that play into the King Kong Mythos. Earlier on I was working on another set of conceptual creatures from a follow up to CHIMERA called GORGON. It was a tank mech shooter that had the player trying to stop Godzilla sized aliens from destroying modern day cities. The GORGON outline was shelved and the designs sat in limbo on my hard drive. When Dynasty took shape in my quiet moments between being a dad and a husband, I quickly placed them into DYNASTY, as foes and bosses.
Well as it goes I sat down and drew out the creatures and tried a different form of shading and coloring. It created a grainier feel and felt right for the drawing.
